Cardiometabolic health & plant-based eating series – Part 2
The second part of this two-webinar series investigates the multiple components of cardiometabolic health including diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidaemias before exploring plant-based dietary patterns associated with improved outcomes.
Summary
Part 1 focused on the global burden and key risk factors to cardiovascular disease and explored the well-established Portfolio and UCLP© dietary plans. The final and second part in the cardiometabolic health series begins by exploring the multiple components of cardiometabolic health including diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidaemias. Prof. Sievenpiper then goes on to discuss the cardiometabolic benefits of various plant-based dietary patterns such as the Mediterranean, Nordic, vegetarian and portfolio diets and explore the potential mechanisms by which plant-foods impact on cardiometabolic outcomes including gut microbiome.
