Funding policy

The Alpro Foundation is always interested in supporting research in the field of "Plant-based nutrition and its impact on human health"

Applications are accepted for a maximum of € 75.000 per year and the duration period can not exceed 3 years.

The Alpro Foundation does not normally fund:

  • projects with low public health relevance;
  • research on food policy, food production and food technology except when linked to an intervention with high potential for sustainable improvement of the nutritional status; 
  • in vitro and/or animal experiments.

 

The Alpro foundation has the policy of funding documented direct costs of the projects. Alpro Foundation is an independent charity and does not fund unspecified indirect and overhead costs exceeding 20%.
The Alpro Foundation will not support travel cost or investment in permanent equipment. If the research project involves the use of human volunteers, payment for volunteers would be accepted.
If the project is already receiving other funds, this should be notified in the application.
 

Eligibility

Eligible applicants:

  • are residents in a European country;
  • should hold a Master in Science degree or equivalent.

 

Selection

The criteria on which the projects will be selected, are:

  • scientific quality of the project;
  • relevance in the short and long term;
  • budget considerations;
  • qualifications and commitment of the applicant;
  • assistance of the environment to encourage the project.

 

Reports
Interim reports are expected every 6 months following the start of the project. These reports help to see how the project is advancing and will be critically reviewed in order to offer constructive feedback and in order to decide upon continuation of the funding. Final reports should cover the complete study and should be made available when the project is finished.

Publication
It is the Alpro Foundations policy to publish its sponsoring projects and the scientific progress achieved by them as widely as possible. It is a condition of accepting financial sponsoring that the applicant agree to co-operate in such publicity efforts. The Alpro foundation should be informed prior to any disclosure or publication in any form. It is a requirement of the grant that the support of Alpro Foundation is acknowledged in any publication or other public output arising from the work funded.
