PREVIOUS WINNERS OF AWARD FOR MASTERS
In 2009, the second Alpro Foundation awards for Masters were handed out in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom & Ireland. The national winners in each country are listed here:

Belgium: Damien Michotte (UCL): "Etude de la stabilité oxydative de l’huile de lin en présence de composés phénoliques naturels".
Germany: to be announced
Italy: Cecilia Bolondi (University of Bologna): "Sulforaphane in vitro neuroprotection on neurotoxic effects of the β-amyloid fibrils"
The Netherlands: Ivonne Sluijs (University Medical Center Utrecht) Dietary Intake of Total, Animal, and Vegetable Protein and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in the EPIC-NL Study".

UK&Ireland: Meaghan Kitchen (Leeds): "Process evaluation of a cluster randomised controlled trial of a school based fruit and vegetable intervention: Project Tomato"
Amongst these 5 winners, a European Award winner will be selected whom will receive an additional €2,500.
In 2008, we have launched the first Alpro Foundation award for Masters in 5 countries, namely: Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom & Ireland.The national winners in each country received an award and €2,500. The first winners of 2008 were:
Belgium: Rosemarie De Weirdt (University Ghent): "Anaerobic metabolism of glycerol by the colon microbiota"

Germany: Melina Claussnitzer (Technical University Munich) - "Effects of flavonoids on basal and insulin-stimulated 2-deoxyglucose uptake in adipocytes"
Italy: Sara Quadrini (University of Camerino) - "Quantitative analysis of Soyasaponins I and VI in lentils by SPE-HPLC-MS"
The Netherlands: Truus Van Woudenbergh (Wageningen University) - "Coffee consumption and coronary calcification"
UK&Ireland: Laura Ions (Newcastle University) - "The potential of soyabean isoflavones to mimic affects of calorie restriction mediated by Sirt1"

Amongst these 5 winners, Melina Glaussnitzer was unanimously selected by the members of the scientific board as the European Award winner. She received an additional €2,500.
